What is Affiliate Marketing ?
Affiliate marketing is nothing but performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts. Affiliate marketing is commonly confused with referral marketing, as both forms of marketing use third parties to drive sales to the retailer. However, both are distinct forms of marketing and the main difference between them is that affiliate marketing relies purely on financial motivations to drive sales while referral marketing relies on trust and personal relationships to drive sales.
Affiliate marketing is frequently overlooked by advertisers. While search engines, e-mail and website syndication capture much of the attention of online retailers, affiliate marketing carries a much lower profile. Still, affiliates continue to play a significant role in e-retailers’ marketing strategies.
The concept is simple:
1) Create a website.
2) Promote a product created by someone else on that website.
3) Earn money whenever your visitor buys the product you’re promoting.

You’ll be given a special link by the company you’re promoting (called the affiliate link). And they’ll know when a user clicks on your link.

For example, lets say you’re a boy who likes computer games & have some knowledge on that topic.
So you’re starting a website where you write about gaming and other technical tips to help other men or boys. One day, you find a great product which you’re damn sure will help the ladies who read your website.
So, you write about that product on your site & add your affiliate link in the same page, so that others can buy the product. By doing this, you’ll get paid for each sale which comes through your website.
This is just a small example. This method can be applied to any field or topic which suits you.
